Bring an existing recording into Studio.
Import Audio analyzes a recording and creates another creative with transcript and media. Use it to reuse a produced spot, recover a spoken performance, or build a new treatment from existing audio.
Before you import
- Use a clean, supported audio file that plays correctly before upload.
- Confirm permission to process, edit, and redistribute every voice and asset in the recording.
- Know whether you want to preserve the original voices and whether the background should be retained.
- Keep the project open until the job reports a result.
Choose the import strategy
| Option | Choose it when | Result to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Keep original voices | The existing performance is approved or cannot be re-created. | Pre-recorded vocal material remains part of the new creative. |
| Do not keep original voices | You want the transcript and structure but plan to cast new voices. | Review the resulting vocal setup before synthesis. |
| Include background | The mixed bed is licensed and should remain. | Background material can limit later separation and remix control. |
| Exclude background | You want to rebuild music and SFX in Studio. | A cleaner production starting point when decomposition succeeds. |
Run the import
- Open Import Audio from the creative toolbar.
- Select the source file.
- Choose the voice and background options.
- Review the credit cost and start the import.
- Wait while Studio uploads, processes, and checks job status.
- Open the newly created creative when the operation completes.
Import creates another creative. The current creative is preserved. Rename the imported result immediately so it is not confused with a generated or blank alternative.
Understand the result
The new creative can contain a transcript, a PreRecorded vocal, and any retained background material. Transcript text describes the recording; changing it does not automatically change words already spoken in the file.
- Play the imported creative from start to finish.
- Check transcript boundaries and speaker changes.
- Listen for decomposition artifacts if background was removed.
- Confirm the creative duration and clip positions.
- Replace or rebuild assets only after preserving the imported baseline.
If processing takes longer
Import runs asynchronously. Do not submit the same file repeatedly while a job is pending. If status does not advance, record the project, file name, approximate start time, and visible job state before contacting support.
